Harbhajan Singh joins the ranks of Brett Lee and ‘DJ’ Bravo, makes a singing debut with Mithoon

Years ago Brett Lee wowed us when he crooned with Asha Bhosle. More recently, it was Dwayne DJ Bravo who had us grooving to Champion. South African batsman AB de Villiers is also known for his singing prowess. The latest to join the cricketer-singer club is India’s star offspinner, Harbhajan Singh. We have seen him crooning on reality shows, but this is on a more professional level. He is collaborating with Mithoon of Aashiqui 2 fame for his Bollywood singing debut. Given Bhajji’s personality and appeal, the song is all about grassroots. The single will celebrate India’s culture and heroes from real life. Harbhajan is quite pleasing on his TV outings but this is a new venture.

As a cricketer, he put in hours of practice for cricket, and he is equally diligent about his music as well. A source informed mid-day that he is putting in years of Riyaaz to get everything right. He is also ecstatic about it. He told mid-day in an exclusive statement, “I’m excited and nervous at the same time. I am happy that I am in safe hands. I am confident that I won’t disappoint my fans.” The cricketer also said that it would be in Hinglish.

It is not only Harbhajan but also Mithoon who is equally thrilled about the singer’s singing debut. Mithoon told mid-day, “Harbhajan and I have been close friends for many years. He loves music and expressed his wish to try his hand at singing a while back. He wanted to do something to celebrate India’s heritage and culture. We finalised the concept on his birthday (July 3) last year. I believe music should address a higher purpose, and we are glad our collaboration will be a meaningful one.” He also informed that he wants to use the song in a film. Prior to this, he has sung a number Ek Suneha for Goyal Music. Stay tuned to Bollywood Life for more scoop and updates.
